Real Montana Weddings – Tia _ Paul

I would describe our wedding as one that was full of fun, joy, family, friends and Montana! It had a laid back vibe that embraced the Rocky Mountain Front and its location (#1 Lovers Lane, Augusta, Montana), while still adding fun elegant touches. The wedding and reception were held in two different sections of my parent’s yard. Guests were greeted with lemonade and cookies and escorted to their seats. Our wedding ceremony included vows we wrote ourselves, as well as an exchange of Tifui leis. All in all, it was a lovely day. We had photos taken with the Rocky Mountains in the background and of course, on Lovers Lane.

What was unique about your wedding?

Well, we did it ALL ourselves, including the set up, decorations and food. It was quite the feat, having that many details done and in order for 300+ people. As my husband’s mother’s side of the family is from Fiji, we also incorporated Island touches into the celebration. For our wedding rehearsal, we had a Lovo dinner and his cousin performed some island dances and had many of our party involved. We were also married by a long-time friend of my family, a gentleman who has known me since I was 7 years old. It meant a lot to me that he was the one who married us.

Why did you choose Montana?

My husband and I are both from Montana and I really can’t imagine getting married anywhere else.

Favorite Part?

Hmm, for me the favorite part was having all of my favorite people together in one spot for three days. We had friends and family that traveled from across the country to be with us and I really wanted to freeze that weekend in time. And the second favorite part, was hearing Paul’s self-written vows. I loved those.

Advice for those starting to Plan?

Be detail oriented and plan as much as you can, but in the end realize that no matter what, you cannot control every detail of the day (or weekend!) for that matter. I had things finely tuned and there were still surprises that came up. Also, have a notebook where you can keep everything in one place.

What would you change if you could go back?

For us, it was a beautiful day. Paul and I were both happy with how everything turned out and were blessed to have such a perfect celebration. The only thing I would change would be getting more sleep. 😉
